Helen in a nutshell (Big sisters version)

Created by Julie 3 years ago

We grew up in Trentham and spent many a day just at Trentham Gardens swimming pool. we enjoyed local walks in the park and around the fields on the farm. Family holidays were mostly at Llandudno (dad hated driving and working for BR therefore having free train travel we took advantage of that). we ventured further afield on Sunday School Trips with the Trentham Methodist Church. Later Helen would join Temple Street (Fenton) and make new friends there.  Following school she completed her art degree with Honours .

An artist who didn't fully realise how much her work would be appreciated by a wider audience.

She had an eye for detail. Skilled in cake making & decorating, sewing, painting, decorating and styling.

Having converted the Old Mill building then young George came on the scene. Not long after her long battle with Cancer started. She was very private during the first battles. Her refusal to give in is an inspiration to all. She would drag herself up and out despite protests from her friends to ' take care and relax'. That stubborn streak kept her going. The last battle was very hard for her to accept that she had to slow down. In all the years she never wanted to know prognosis. Each time she was delivered another blow from hospital she dealt with it with dignity. No sympathy and no discussion about it required- it was just dealt with and all she wanted was to carry on as normal for as long as she could.                                                                                                      I'm fine she said when asked. I'm sorry sister dear we are not fine. You will be very much missed.
